People have grown so accustomed to thinking that work hard/play hard means going out to happy hour that they’ve completely forgotten how to occupy their time. People used to have hobbies – knitting, whittling, photography but now when asked what one does in their free time, they invariably say, “socialize”. Unfortunately, good conversation it’s usually found amongst people that you already know.
Hobbies solve three problems quite nicely. One, when someone asks what you do in your free time you will have an answer that will make you seem interesting. Two, hobbies are generally social and will introduce you to new people. Three, you’ll never again be bored, wondering what to do.
Bored people are boring. Don’t be boring, get a hobby.
